Powermac G4's and powerbooks before I think 2003 don't support large drive 48-bit LBA, so this could be the problem. In this case, you will need intech's hi-cap tool in order to format and use the drive.

By the way I see it your powerbook might have a drive limitation of 128GB and lower. try loading Tiger's cd and see if you can format the drive from there. if its new, there could be some kind of firmware issue preventing it from being used on the mac.Īnother test I would do.
